I got a DUI and I would like to get my drivers license back. I was told that I need to get SR22 car insurance in Georgia to have my license reinstated. I don’t own a car so how can I get a car insurance for a car that I do not have?

You will be needing a non-owners SR22 car insurance if you do not own an automobile nor has a vehicle in your household where to put a car insurance policy upon.
If the state demands an SR22, as part of of the reinstatement process to get your drivers license back then you will have to get and keep one even though you do not own a car. Typically if you own an automobile you get the required liability coverages and SR22 Georgia filing for the car(s) you possess. If you don’t own a vehicle then you get yourself a non-owners policy which is still the required insurance coverage as well as you need an SR22 filed with the state as mandated; there’s just no vehicle to list on the insurance plan.

- $25,000 bodily injury for one person in one accident
- $50,000 for two or more persons in one accident
- $25,000 property damage incurred in one accident
