Reader’s Question:

Is SR22 required in the state of Georgia?

Marlin

Atlanta GA

Yes, under certain cases, SR22 can be required in the state of Texas.

According to the Georgia Department of Drivers Services or DDS, And SR22 Form is a form that shows proof of insurance in the future when mentioning drivers license suspension or revocation.

According to Georgia COde under Proof of Financial Responsibility for Probationary License, the proof of financial responsibility must be certified by an authorized insurer proving that the offender has a valid liability insurance policy in effect. The The Financial Responsibility Certificate should include the violator’s name, licnese number and the date of birth.

Also, according to Georgia COde 40-9-81, when the violator is convicted of any offense that resulted in drivers license suspension, his or her drivers license will not be reinstated unless permitted by the department and unless the vilator shows proof of financial responsibility certificated for the future.

These are just some of the reasons why the state of Georgia require an SR22 form. You may be required to obtain an SR22 if your license has been suspended, revoked or cancelled. That is one way to have your license reinstated.

If you want to know more information on other reasons why the state of Georgia may require SR22, you may contact DDS.
